Reports and Tools
Making a wider impact
At ES@S, we actively seek to support the wider research and commercial sectors through generating reports and tools. We work with a number of different organisations to curate publicly available reports which support the delivery and analysis of remote sensing
This report looks into the ability of UAVs (Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles) to support river restoration activities from design, through implementation, to long-term monitoring. This was in partnership with The river restoration Centre to provide evidence for updating the PRAGMO guidance being developed by ES@S and the RRC.
These are a series of Google Colab notebooks which allows users to use their own data, or the sample data provided, to undertake a number of routine operations to get more out of their UAV data. Each of these tools has been designed for a specific use and to support those with little to no experience of coding.
Hidden Channels

This tool enables users to load in a digital terrain model of their site, a valley direction polyline, and produce detrended elevation models and slope maps for identifying breaks in slopes and visualising floodplain morphology to reveal former channel planforms.
Image Classification

This tool is designed to take a standard RGB, Multispectral, or composite raster, and segment the dataset into a number of classes based on the spectral properties of the data. This is a quick and automated way to classify orthoimagery without the need for extensive training data.
